“See ehn, let me tell you something, I just finished one of my big projects that I’ve been working on. Sooooo OWO ma show! Ehnn Jojolowo baby, be patient with me nau, me that I said I will take care of you, I no dey lie,” Kash said, pulling his pants up hurriedly as he prepared to leave.
“Kash Kash!! No wahala oh, we shall say you said so,” Jojo replied while raising her mouth to her nose, demonstrating the very popular yimu sign.
Kasope noticed this but smiled either way; he knew his time with Jojo was coming to an end, and he would have to start hunting soon. Strutting and smiling, he walked out of Jojo’s compound on Akin Adeola Way, making his way toward the Range Rover Sport he'd parked, hidden in the corner of the street. He took a quick glance around the black metallic beauty to ensure it was in the same condition he had left it. Satisfied, he hopped in and rolled his eyes at the several missed calls from Tokunbo and Jide. After a moment of hesitation, he called Jide back instead.
“Guy, how far? Where you dey?” Jide asked.
“Mehn, omo, I’ve been with Jojo, but I’m about to start heading home,” Kash responded.
“My G! Sha ma jaiye e lo! Also… Tinu said she saw you with a new whip..” Jide said, hailing Kash.
“You know, you know...” Kash laughed.
“But guy, yarn me now, help a friend. Me sef wan hammer, this Toyota don tire me,” Jide pleaded.
“hahaha…. We go still jam at Azure?” Kash asked, ignoring Jide’s pleas.
Kasope was supposed to head to Lux Realty, the real estate business he was in charge of, to meet with some clients, but he decided to bail and go to the luxurious mansion that he called home to rest instead. He hated doing any work that would stress him out. He preferred a life of enjoyment, calm vibes and always looked forward to what the Lagos nightlife had in store for him.
As Kasope cruised down the estate, he marveled at the scenery and could not believe this was his life. The streets were lined with towering masquerade trees, their vibrant green leaves swaying gently in the breeze. Compounds were filled with all manner of luxury vehicles, the streets were spotless, and everything felt so peaceful. As home came into view, he beeped his horn with intense urgency. The gateman, slow to respond, opened the gate halfway and flagged him down, attempting to give him some information. “Ohhhooo, what does this idiot have to tell me now?” Kasope muttered under his breath as he rolled down the window.
“Yes, yes, Mr. Ahmed, is everything okay?” he asked.
“Ehenn... Sir, woman dey wait you for garden,” Mr. Ahmed said, smiling.
“WHAT??? Why you allow am inside compound? …this guy, you too dey fuck up,” he said, disappointed.
“Sir, walahi, I tried, but she no gree oh, the madam even hold my trousers..” Mr. Ahmed replied.
“She hold your... wetin she look like? In fact, you know what, JUST OPEN THE GATE!” he wailed.
Kasope quickly parked and hurried toward the garden. His eyes found Chinaza, lounging on one of the swinging chairs, and he hissed in irritation. “Hi my handsome yellow pawpaw… you don’t look so happy to me..” said Chinaza.
“How did you find me? Ehnnn, why are you here?” he shouted.
“Ahn ahn baby, you are shouting, please lower your voice,” she responded sulking.
“Please, please leave before you put me in trouble and don’t ever come back here!” he wailed.
“But Kasope!! Let’s just sit down and talk, baby...” she said pretending to cry.
Kasope was in no mood for her whining, so he grabbed her hand and began pushing her toward the gate. After about five minutes of struggle, he finally managed to get rid of her.
“Sir, this one na tough one, but she fineee,” Mr. Ahmed blurted.
“Can you shut up and keep this to yourself? THIS NEVER HAPPENED!” Kasope said as he walked away, heading inside the house. A few hours later, he stood before the mirror, admiring himself. His t-shirt was sparkling white, his haircut was flawless, and his lips were looking extra pink and juicy. He spun around, checking himself out, then layered Paco Rabanne 1 Million all over his body. “Eyyy, I just dey burst my brain,” he said, smiling and kicking his feet in satisfaction.
About 25 minutes later, he finally arrived at Azure and the scenery was perfect. He was about to set a reminder on his phone for Suya pick up when he was met with Tokunbo calling again. He simply avoided it and headed inside the bubbly building, singing along to Carolina by Sinzu, that was echoing through the speakers.
“Sorry for my late arrival, I had things to tend to, mehn,” Kash said to his friends as he attempted to signal one of the waiters.
“These things don’t have anything to do with dusting and mopping, abi?” Jide shot back, laughing.
“Guy, abeg, abeg, mind your own business,” Kash responded curtly.
Kasope and his friends started the night by ordering several bottles of alcohol and pepper soup while engaging in persiflage, their laughter blending into the atmosphere. Just as he was about to respond to another jab from Jide, he spotted a very tantalizing woman at the bar and lost all focus.
He scanned her from head to toe and started to think of the best way to woo her. He had a feeling she might be a tough cookie but he thrived on the chase. The dopamine he got from it was out of this world. No one could resist for long. After all, the streets didn’t call him Kash for the Ladies for nothing.
As he was still plotting his move on the woman at the bar, one of the waiters approached him with a stank face. “Sir, your card is not working oh..” she said, eyeing him up and down. Irritated, he told her to relax and to give him some time while he called his bank to figure out the situation.
“Mama T, good evening,” he said, trying to sound flirty.
“What’s good about the evening, Kash? Ehhn, please tell me?” Tokunbo responded, hissing.
“Tokunbo, please calm down…” He responds.
“Awon ẹbi iya mama eh ni ko calm down,” Tokunbo responded angrily.
“Emm…” Kash attempted to talk but was cut off by Tokunbo.
“Mr. Alao said he came to the house to pick up the Range for service, but it was nowhere to be found.” Tokunbo said.
“Baby, I took it to help you go and service it,” Kash responded.
“You took my car where?? Ehenn, Kasope?? Also, my clients said you weren’t present at the site… What exactly have you been doing?? Ehhn, please explain to me!” Tokunbo said, irritated.
“Mama T, it’s not like that now...” Kash said.
“Oh, please shut up! I’ll be back in two days. That house better be in a state of perfection.” She cautioned.
“Yes, I’ve heard... Can I also have some money? My stash is running low... I need…”
Before Kasope could say anything further, Tokunbo had already hung up. Defeated, he hopped into the Range, squeezing his face.
As Solution by King Sunny Ade blared through the speakers, he thought about the fake life he was living. He wasn’t sure how much more of this sugar-boy lifestyle he could continue to take.
